TOYOTA
Start Your Impossible
For the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, Toyota shifted the spotlight from the finish line to everything—and everyone—that helped an athlete reach it. The latest chapter of Start Your Impossible celebrated the families, coaches, teammates, fans, and hometown communities whose support turns individual ambition into collective achievement.
Spanning global films, athlete stories, social content, out-of-home, and an interactive digital experience, the campaign showed that greatness may have one name on the scoreboard, but it is rarely earned alone. Wherever an athlete’s journey led, their community moved with them.
Love Conquers All
Directed by Tarsem Singh, the film told the true story of U.S. Olympic BMX cyclist Alise Willoughby and her husband and coach, Sam Willoughby. After a life-changing accident altered the course of Sam’s own BMX career, the couple rebuilt their lives—and Alise’s pursuit of Olympic success—through resilience, partnership, and an unwavering belief in one another. it showed how support can carry an athlete through loss, uncertainty, and the long road back toward possibility.
THE StorySometimes the strongest person in the race is the one beside you.
Keep Marissa Running
Follows Canadian Paralympic sprinter Marissa Papaconstantinou on one continuous run from her hometown toward Paris. As streets, landscapes, and stages of her life shifted around her, the people who helped shape her appeared along the route, turning every stride into a reminder that community support can keep an athlete moving long after the starting gun.
The Power of a Proper Send-Off
Send Off captured the emotional moment when athletes leave home to represent something larger than themselves. Families, neighbors, coaches, and entire communities gathered to push them toward Paris, showing that the true power of where you come from is often felt most clearly when it is time to leave.
Together Is It’s Own Kind Of Win
Together Wins expanded the campaign’s central belief across athletes, sports, and countries. By connecting personal victories to the people behind them, the film reframed success as something shared showing proof that even the most individual pursuit can become a collective triumph.
The Community Calls The Plays
In Think Fast, French Olympic handball player Nikola Karabatić faces an ordinary day as if it were a match, with spontaneous advice coming from neighbors at every turn. The film used humor and the quick reactions of his community to show that when support surrounds you, you are ready for whatever life—or the competition—throws your way.
Home-Game Advantage, Globally
The campaign’s billboards and print work placed athletes directly within the communities that helped shape them. Portraits were paired with handwritten notes from family members, coaches, and supporters, allowing deeply personal encouragement to appear at Olympic scale.
Rather than separating elite athletes from everyday life, the work surrounded them with the voices and places that made their achievements possible. Each message became proof that behind every record, medal, and impossible goal is someone saying, “Keep going.”
Putting Community On The Map
The campaign’s interactive web experience turned a global sponsorship into something people could explore personally. Visitors could rotate a digital globe and select pins to discover Team Toyota athletes, their home countries, and the communities supporting their journeys.
Fans and community members could also submit photos, videos, and messages of encouragement, transforming the site from a collection of athlete profiles into a living send-off. Instead of simply watching the road to Paris, people around the world could add their own voices to it.
Mobility Solution Spotlight
An important social package centered Paralympians while demonstrating Toyota’s broader Mobility for All vision. By placing athletes at the heart of the content, the work showcased accessible mobility solutions through the people whose performance, independence, and lived experience made their purpose immediately clear.
The content moved beyond displaying technology as product innovation. It showed mobility as freedom, access, and the ability for more people to move through the Games—and the world—on their own terms. Toyota supplied a range of accessible solutions for Paris 2024, including wheelchair e-pullers, Accessible People Movers, personal mobility devices, and wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
No One Starts Impossible Alone
Toyota’s Paris 2024 campaign made support visible. It honored the athletes competing on the world’s biggest stage while giving equal weight to the people and places that helped them get there.
Across film, social, digital, out-of-home, and interactive storytelling, the campaign turned Toyota’s global sponsorship into a celebration of the support systems behind every athlete. By making families, coaches, teammates, and hometown communities part of the story, Start Your Impossible showed that even the most extraordinary individual achievements are built together.
