ZILLOW x x

The Sound

Of Home

Before the stages, the Grammys, and the miles on the road, there was a tiny pink house in East Texas where Kacey Musgraves first found her voice. For the release of Middle of Nowhere, Zillow opened the door to that story by transforming her real childhood home into an immersive experience fans could explore room by room.

The partnership used the familiar language of a Zillow listing to tell a much more personal story. Photography, a 3D Home tour, handwritten details, album clues, and memories hidden throughout the property invited fans to experience not simply where Kacey grew up, but how that place continues to shape her music.

THE Story

The modest family home is where Kacey spent her earliest years, wrote her first song, and began forming the perspective that would later define her work. Preserved rather than polished into something unrecognizable, every room carries the textures, imperfections, and quiet details of the place she remembers as home.

The House That Made The Music

Saved From Becoming a Memory

After her grandmother’s death, Kacey stepped in to keep the property from leaving the family. She painted the cottage pastel pink in her honor, turning it into both a tribute and a place she could return to whenever she needed to reconnect with where she came from.

Home is more than an address. Sometimes it is the place that keeps introducing you to yourself.

The experience turned that deeply personal history into something fans could enter without flattening it into a conventional celebrity partnership. Instead of placing Kacey inside Zillow’s world, we found an authentic role for Zillow inside hers.

Not for Sale.

Kacey painted the house pink in honor of her grandmother’s favorite color, preserving it as more than a family property. Known as Bunker Hill, it was the place everyone returned to, a gathering spot, a safe haven, and, for Kacey, a world away from the world. The home’s meaning comes not from what it could sell for, but from the memories and sense of belonging held inside it.

Every Room Had Something to Say

The partnership gave Zillow a credible place in the cultural conversation surrounding the album. It also reflected the emotional reason people browse homes in the first place: not only to move, but to imagine lives, revisit memories, and picture who they might become somewhere else.

By turning Bunker Hill into an interactive story, the experience expanded Zillow’s role from property discovery into personal discovery. Every room, memory, and album clue invited fans to see the home as both a physical place and a living record of the people, rituals, and experiences that shaped Kacey’s point of view.

THE IDEA

The Zestimate could never measure this kind of value.

Good Bones. Better Stories.

This was more than a branded page about an artist’s childhood home. It reimagined a familiar Zillow listing as a storytelling platform…transforming rooms, memories, and personal details into a living archive of music, family, and place.

The partnership gave Zillow an authentic place within the cultural conversation surrounding the album. It also tapped into the emotional reason people browse homes in the first place: not only to find somewhere to move, but to revisit where they have been, imagine who they could become, and picture the life that might unfold behind a different front door.

Step inside Bunker Hill and explore the full home experience.

By inviting fans inside Bunker Hill, Zillow became more than the place where the home lived online. It became the doorway into the memories, traditions, and sense of belonging that shaped Kacey’s perspective long before the rest of the world heard her music.

Social content invited fans beyond the pink front door through clips, photographs, personal details, and prompts to explore the full experience. Familiar real-estate language was reworked into pieces of Kacey’s world, creating content that felt natural to both the artist and Zillow.

Zillow extended the experience beyond the screen with an intimate surprise concert at Bunker Hill, giving a small group of fans the chance to hear Kacey perform in the place that helped shape her music. A live Q&A added another layer to the story, inviting her to reflect on the home, her family, and the memories woven throughout the album.
